Project List

This list represents some of the projects important to the care of our patients and was prepared to assist you in your efforts to help. For further information, update on these projects, or other patient needs, we recommend you contact Voluntary Service. REMEMBER: Checks must be made payable to VA MEDICAL CENTER and earmarked for the purpose you desire. The continued outstanding support and cooperation of our donors are appreciated.

Co-Pay Assistance

This fund is used to assist patients who are having problems meeting their medical and/or pharmacy co-pay requirements.

Library

The library utilizes donated funds to help provide current reading/education materials for our veterans, i.e. - funds for newspaper subscriptions.

Recreation

Our Recreation staff provides patients with productive diversionary/therapeutic activities in a seven-day-a-week program of movies, social events, sports, games and crafts. We need your support to continue these quality activities for our veterans and also need help with replacement video games.

Replacement TVs

The need for replacements TVs in the hospital and nursing home care units is ongoing.  As a hospital, our TVs must meet certain safety regulations; therefore, we ask that organizations make a donation to this account rather than purchasing a TV.

Haircut Fund

Funds for haircuts, shaves, etc., for extended care or indigent patients are always needed. Organizations may want to consider adopting a ward/area as a project.

Pan Tran Tickets

Pan Tran tickets for transportation of veterans to and from Rescue Mission in Martinsburg.

Visually Impaired Equipment

Special items for visually-impaired veterans, i.e. talking watches, signature guides, Braille playing cards, etc.

Smoking Cessation Materials

Funds are used to purchase materials for smoking cessation classes.
