In response to the concerns raised by COVID-19, the Martinsburg VAMC Summer Youth Volunteer Program has been canceled. This was not an easy decision, but it is necessary for the safety of our Veteran patients, employees and the youth who would serve as volunteers. We look forward to resuming the program in the summer of 2021. For more information please contact the Voluntary Service Office.

The Martinsburg VA Medical Center (VAMC) depends on the love and devotion of our Veteran Service Organizations and volunteers whose sole purpose is to serve America's Veterans.

Volunteers are making a difference in VA health care. Our volunteers provide many important services throughout the medical center to help make our patients' stay more comfortable and help us accomplish our mission of service.

Please check our current Volunteer Assignments for a listing of volunteer opportunities.

To volunteer, call or visit the Martinsburg VAMC Voluntary Service Office. We will be happy to discuss how you can help us in our mission to care for America's finest.

Through our Veterans Transportation Network (VTN) program, volunteers drive patients to the medical center for scheduled medical appointments. Here are the Guidelines for Van Riders and VA Staff and Van Schedule. For more information visit the VTN website or to reserve seating call the Transportation Office at 304-263-0811 or 800-817-3807, ext. 3732.

Cash donations are used for the comfort and welfare of our Veteran patients, including:

  • Comfort items
  • Recreational activities
  • Haircuts and shaves for extended care and Veterans in need.
  • Newspaper subscriptions

Checks should be made payable to the Martinsburg VAMC and earmarked for the desired purpose. See current ongoing Project List for a listing of needs.

Non-cash contributions are also accepted. Some of the acceptable items include:

  • Phone cards for domestic use (no international cards needed)
  • Postage stamps for patients' letters, cards, etc.
  • Crossword, Word Find or Sudoku puzzle books
  • Plus much more

Please contact the Martinsburg VAMC Voluntary Service Office before collecting items not on this list. See a complete listing of Acceptable Items.

E-Donate allows community members who wish to give back to Veterans a quick, safe way to pledge their support. Through E-Donate, donors can select from a number of accounts at the medical center they can donate. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs administrative costs are appropriated so donors can be 100 percent certain their donations will go directly to the funds and Veteran patients they select.

Money donated to the Martinsburg VAMC goes to providing shaves, haircuts, personal comfort items, special holiday events and replacement vans for our Veterans transportation needs. Donations are made through a secure site at the Department of Treasury. A $5 minimum is required for online donations. Donations can be made using a credit card or debit card.
