Martinsburg VAMC to host VA2K “Walk and Roll”
May 15, 2015
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Martinsburg VA Medical Center (VAMC) will host a VA2K Walk and Roll on May 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to encourage healthy activity while supporting homeless Veterans with donated items.
The VA2K Walk and Roll is free and open to the public. The VA2K will be held at the medical center’s Canteen Patio beginning at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is not required and those interested in participating should plan to arrive at the Canteen Patio no later than 10:30 a.m.
“Helping homeless Veterans while also promoting a healthy, active lifestyle to VA employees is what VA2K is all about,” said Bobbi Corbin, VA2K coordinator. “Worksite wellness activities enhance employee engagement and contribute to a more productive and healthy workforce.”
The Martinsburg VAMC event is just one of approximately 170 VA2K events taking place at other VA facilities across the country on May 20. To help homeless Veterans, we are asking for donations of AA batteries, shampoo, lotion, new socks, phone cards or thumb drives, which can be dropped off at the event when participants sign in. There is no requirement for a donation in order to participate.
The event is open to people of all fitness levels and can be completed over a lunch break. Whether you team up with a coworker, a friend, or participate on your own, there’s no better time than now to step up your fitness level and help improve the lives of homeless Veterans. For additional information and more event details, please contact the local VA2K coordinator, Bobbi Corbin at (304) 263-0811, ext. 3508 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
