MARTINSBURG, W.Va - The Martinsburg VA Medical Center kicked off its festivities to celebrate National Salute to Veteran Patients Week Sunday with music from the U.S. Navy’s Bluegrass Band Country Current.

Every year the medical center partners with local organizations to thank Veterans who receive their care at the VA. Local organizations are encouraged to visit the medical center to express their appreciation for the men and women who served this country. More than 98,000 Veterans of the United States armed services are cared for every day by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The week of events will highlight the major role the medical center has in the health of its Veterans. “As a country, we need to make sure our Veterans know we appreciate their service and sacrifices.” said acting medical center director, Timothy J. Cooke.
