Veterans Health Information Exchange

Connect Your Docs

Do you see a non-VA health care provider?

'Connect Your Docs' by sharing certain parts of your Veteran's health record between the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense (DoD) and selected private health care providers over a secure network known as the eHealth Exchange (eHE). This program is free and voluntary for the Veteran. Click here to view VHIE exchange partners.

How might VHIE Health benefit me?

Many Veterans receive a portion of their care from non-VA health care providers. Sharing certain parts of your electronic health record (EHR) will help reduce the need for patients and families to carry records between health care providers. It will also allow your private health care provider to make informed decisions about your care.

What parts of the record will be shared?

When you sign a VHIE Authorization form, your VA and non-VA providers will be able to view your shared health information. This includes a list of health problems, allergies, medications, vital signs, immunizations, some labs, discharge summaries, medical history, physicals, procedure results, encounters and progress notes.

What is the difference between VHIEand My HealtheVet?

VHIE Health allows health care providers to share health information with DoD and select non-VA care providers. My HealtheVet provides you access to your health information as well as tools to manage your care.
